How to create a table with a bar chart in Tableau

Do you know how to create a table with a bar chart in Tableau?

Follow along to the video or check out the steps below.

First, Open tableau and connect to your data.

 

Then you’ll start by building the table.

Drag and drop into the Rows shelf the date, subdivision, business unit and revenue pills.

This will be the result:

Rick click on the green (continuous) SUM(Revenue) pill in the Rows shelf and select “Discrete”.

Do the same to with the Expense pill and the result will be this:

There we have our table.
Now let’s include a bar graph in it, using the Gross Profit as content and the Gross Profit margin as colour.
(The Gross Profit formula is [Revenue]-[Expense]
The Gross Profit Margin formula is SUM([Gross Profit])/SUM([Revenue]))

Drag and drop the Gross Profit and the Measure Names pills in the Columns shelf and the Gross Profit Margin in the Colour button and the result will be:
